CHICAGO, Ill. (Feb. 3, 2022) – The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) named their 23-player roster for the upcoming SheBelieves Cup taking place February 17-23 in Carson, California and Frisco, Texas. Chicago Red Stars Tierna Davidson, Morgan Gautrat, Alyssa Naeher and Mallory Pugh will represent the Chicago Red Stars in the 2022 SheBelieves Cup as part of the tournament roster.
This will be Gautrat’s first call up to the USWNT roster for a tournament since joining the team for their historic fourth FIFA Women’s World Cup Championship in 2019 and the matches that followed back in the United States. Since then, Gautrat has joined a couple of national team camps, most recently last month for the team’s annual January camp.
“It’s always an honor to represent the United States and compete in a tournament together,” said Gautrat. “I am excited to be back with the team and want to make the most of every opportunity given!”
When asked about Gautrat’s addition to the USWNT January camp roster, Naeher said “I think she had a phenomenal year with Chicago last year and she was back to, probably, the best I've seen her. She 100 percent earned and deserved the opportunity to come back in.”
Davidson, Naeher and Pugh also were part of the USWNT that won the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. In 2021 Naeher, Davidson and Casey Krueger were members of the 2021 SheBelieves Cup roster for the national team. Naeher earned three clean sheets and Krueger logged an assist in the final match. In September and October of last year, in matches against Paraguay and Korea Republic, Pugh assisted on three goals and started in three of the four matches.
The 2022 SheBelieves Cup kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 17 at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. as Iceland takes on New Zealand (5 p.m. PT) and the USA faces the Czech Republic (8 p.m. PT on ESPN and in Spanish on TUDN). The tournament resumes on Sunday, Feb. 20, also at DHSP, with the USA playing the first match of the day, against New Zealand (Noon PT on ABC and in Spanish on PrendeTV), while the Czech Republic will face Iceland (3 p.m. PT) in the second match of the day. The tournament concludes on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, with New Zealand taking on the Czech Republic (5 p.m. CT) and the USA facing Iceland in the nightcap (8 p.m. CT on ESPN and in Spanish on PrendeTV).
