CHICAGO, IL. (Jan. 13, 2022) – Chicago Red Stars midfielder Morgan Gautrat will join the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) for its annual January training camp taking place January 19-28. Gautrat will join fellow Red Stars Tierna Davidson, Alyssa Naeher and Mallory Pugh in Austin, Texas for the training camp.
This will be Gautrat’s first time with the national team since November 2020 when she attended a training camp featuring six other Red Stars. As a part of the USWNT Gautrat won two FIFA Women’s World Cup Championships (2019 and 2015), appeared in 87 games and scored eight goals with 11 assists. The Georgia native was the youngest player on the 2015 championship team at 22 years old. In Gautrat’s last game with the national team she scored in the tenth minute and helped lead the team to a 6-0 win against Costa Rica.
Gautrat joins a contingent of five Red Stars attending the national team’s January camp. Fellow 2019 World Cup Champions Davidson, Naeher and Pugh also will be in attendance, along with Red Stars Head Athletic Trainer, Emily Fortunato, and Equipment Manager, Angelina LoDolce.
This training camp marks the first action of 2022 for the USWNT, but it will not include any international matches. The USA’s first matches of the year will take place at the 2022 SheBelieves Cup, against the Czech Republic (Feb. 17) and New Zealand (Feb. 20) at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif., and Iceland (Feb. 23) at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
