Chicago — Today the Chicago Red Stars announced that forward Sarah Luebbert is being sent on loan to Club America of Liga MX Femenil. Luebbert will join the Mexican club for the remainder of 2021.
The Red Stars’ depth at forward has made it tough for the second year forward to find consistent minutes and develop her game. This transaction allows Luebbert the opportunity to earn more minutes and build her skills for the future.
“It has been a pleasure getting to know Sarah for the past year. Her hard-working attitude has brought great energy to the team, and while we don’t want to see her leave this will help her develop and make her a better player for our club in future,” said Rory Dames, Head Coach for the Chicago Red Stars.
Luebbert, 23, has played five games for the Red Stars, appearing in one starting lineup for a total of 64 minutes this season. While playing at the University of Missouri Luebbert earned 79 points in the 76 games she played during her four years with the Tigers.
The Red Stars organization wishes Luebbert the best during her time playing in Mexico and look forward to her return to Chicago.
