The Chicago Red Stars today announced their preseason roster for the 2023 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.
The team kicks off preseason Wednesday, January 25, with 32 players on the active roster. Of the 32 rostered players, 15 are returning players from the 2022 season, 10 are non-rostered invitees, three are players drafted in the 2023 NWSL Draft andfour are players the club acquired during the offseason.
Julia Bianchi, who the team signed today, will join the team for preseason training when her visa application is approved.
Forwards Chelsie Dawber and Sarah Griffith are both on loan to clubs in Australia and will join the team once their loan periods are completed.
Grace Yochum, one of the Red Stars’ second round picks in this year’s draft, informed the club that she will not be able to report to preseason training due to personal reasons related to her health. The Red Stars wish her well.
