Watt, Hill power Red Stars past Portland 2-1

CHICAGO, Ill. (September 25, 2021) - The Chicago Red Stars, behind goals from Kealia Watt and Rachel Hill, defeated the Portland Thorns 2-1 at home Saturday, September 25.

GAME NOTES

  • Kealia Watt played a key role in supercharging the Red Stars offense on her way to a Budweiser Player of the Match performance. Watt finished with a goal in the 25th minute to immediately even the game at one apiece, totaling seven shots offensively. She also would tally 43 touches, 21 passes, a tackle and a clearance.

  • Rachel Hill also played a major role in the Red Stars offense, scoring in the 65th minute for what would be the eventual game-winning goal. Hill finished the game with 53 touches, nine duels, 31 passes, six crosses and two shots, tackles and interceptions each.

  • The Red Stars back line, despite conceding in the 24th minute, held out strong for the duration of the game and Casey Krueger played a major part. Krueger finished the game with five clearances, three interceptions, two tackles and won back possession nine times. She also would finish with 54 touches and 29 passes, and lead the team with a 91.7% passing accuracy in the opposing half.
