CHICAGO (April 8, 2021) -- The Chicago Red Stars announced today the addition of Vicky Lynch to the front office as Chief Business Officer – a newly created position. As the CBO, Lynch will oversee all aspects of the business side of the organization with an emphasis on revenue generation and fan experience.
”This is literally my dream job,” said Lynch. “Getting back into the women’s game and doing it in Chicago, the city I love, is the best of all worlds for me. The Red Stars have such an incredible history both on and off the pitch. I am honored to be trusted to play such a key role for the future of the club.”
Lynch has over 25 years of experience in the sports industry with a heavy emphasis in soccer. Her first job in sports was with the Chicago venue of the 1994 FIFA World Cup, serving as the Manager of Volunteer Services, where she recruited and managed over 1,300 volunteers. From there, she joined US Soccer as an Event Manager, focused on US Women’s National Team matches across the US for 4 years. A major highlight of Lynch’s career was her role as the Director of Competition for the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup overseeing all competition aspects for all 8 venues. She was then the first staff member of the San Diego Spirit of the Women’s United Soccer Association where she ran operations, ticket sales, grassroots marketing and community relations, as Director of Operations & Fan Development. More recently, Lynch’s soccer experience included working for Relevent Sports and its International Champions Cup and Women’s International Champions Cup properties, as VP, Events & Fan Experience.
In addition to her soccer experience, Lynch has worked for sports marketing agencies developing strategy and activations for many blue-chip consumer brands. She received an MBA in Football Industries from the University of Liverpool.
“I am pleased to welcome Vicky to the Red Stars,” said Chairman and Principal Owner, Arnim Whisler. “Vicky’s background and experience are imperative as we grow our club to the next level. As Chicagoans we make bold plans. During this past year we set some remarkable plans in motion. Our new ownership team has us overflowing with ideas and potential, we have grown our front office to the most sophisticated and skilled in our history, and now, with Vicky’s leadership, we’ll continue to cement our place in the history of women’s club soccer.”
