CHICAGO, IL. (Dec. 13, 2021) – The Chicago Red Stars are well underway in the search process for a new head coach, which will include the perspectives and opinions of multiple stakeholders. The search committee is prioritizing candidates that can help the club foster a safe environment for all, while also building on the team’s success over the years.
The search committee includes:
Red Stars players
Assistant coaches
Sports psychologist
Club’s Chief Business Officer
Members of the club’s ownership
Former players
Over a dozen highly qualified and diverse candidates have proactively reached out to the club, highlighting the strong appeal of coaching the Red Stars’ championship caliber roster and the legacy of winning. The search committee has also created a list of candidates that the club is contacting to include in the process. The overall candidate list features coaches with a wide diversity of backgrounds and experience from various countries, with national teams, from collegiate teams, and men’s and women’s professional club coaching.
While the search committee understands that time is of the essence in selecting a head coach, it also recognizes that the process cannot be rushed. The club needs a coach that will lead them to the highest level both on and off the field. With that in mind, the club looks to announce a new head coach in January of 2022. In the meantime, acting head coach Rade Tanaskovic and assistant coach Julianne Sitch and other advisors are making necessary preparations for the preseason to best position the club for success in 2022.
