CHICAGO - Tierna Davidson, Casey Krueger and Mallory Pugh will join the rest of the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) for the upcoming matches against Korea Republic.The three Chicago Red Stars join a roster that features representatives from each club in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
Davidson and Krueger join the USWNT for the second time since returning from Tokyo where they played their part to help the team win a bronze medal. In her 41 appearances with the national team, Davidson has one World Cup Championship, one goal and seven assists. Krueger appeared 37 times with the national team and assisted on four goals, including one in the fourth minute of last month’s match against Paraguay.
Last month’s matches against Paraguay were Pugh’s first appearances with the USWNT since she won the 2019 World Cup with the team. Pugh appeared in both matches against Paraguay and notched three assists to bring her career totals with the national team to 18 goals and 20 assists in 65 appearances. Pugh’s first appearance with the team came in January of 2016 against the Republic of Ireland where she also scored her first goal.
All three Red Stars will depart to join the rest of the USWNT following their October 16 match against Kansas City. Alyssa Naeher and Julie Ertz will join their three Red Stars teammates at the USWNT camp, though they are not yet ready to play as they continue to rehab from injuries.
The USA will take on Korea Republic on Thursday, Oct. 21, at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas (8 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and TUDN) and then will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota to complete that two-game series at Allianz Field on Tuesday, Oct. 26 (7:30 p.m. ET pre-game on FS1 and 8 p.m. ET on TUDN).
