Scott Parkinson Hired by Gotham FC as New Head Coach

Chicago — Today, the Chicago Red Stars announced the departure of Assistant Coach, Scott Parkinson, from the club as he prepares to takeover as Gotham FC’s new Head Coach. Parkinson follows Freya Coombe, who was recently named the Head Coach of Angel City FC.

The 2021 season marked Parkinson’s second season with the Chicago Red Stars where he has played an integral role in helping the Red Stars on and off the field. Scott will not be available to coach in the Red Stars match against Gotham FC this Saturday.

“We wish Scott well as his career continues,” said Arnim Whisler, Chairman & Principal Owner of the Chicago Red Stars. “He was in demand as a head coach in the NWSL when we hired him and knew we would be fortunate to keep him this long. His professionalism and attention to player development has been a major contribution to the Chicago Red Stars.”

Scott joined the Red Stars after spending two seasons as an assistant with Utah Royals FC, where he helped the team win 19 games in two years. Previously, he served as the head coach of the Rogers State University women’s soccer program for two years, leading the Hillcats to a runner-up finish in the Heartland Conference Tournament in 2017.

The Chicago Red Stars thank Scott for his time and contributions to the club and wish him the best at Gotham FC.
