Storylines

Meet PSG: The Red Stars and Paris Saint-Germain meet on Saturday for the first time ever in both team’s respective history. PSG is in the process of preparing to defend their 2020-21 title, a season in which they clinched Division 1 Féminine by only one point above rival Lyon, as well as preparing for their upcoming UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign. The French giants also are two-time Coupe de France winners, having held the titles during the ‘09-’10 and ‘17-’18 seasons.

Three Welcome Returns: In their previous matchup against Racing Louisville FC on Wednesday, the Red Stars welcomed back Tierna Davidson, Casey Krueger and Morgan Gautrat into the starting XI. Krueger and Davidson played in their first NWSL game since returning from this summer’s Olympics with Team USA where the duo won the bronze medal alongside Red Stars teammates Alyssa Naeher and Julie Ertz. Gautrat returned for her first game since suffering an injury August 8 at home vs the Orlando Pride.

Welcome Home, Olympians: Red Star fans who weren’t able to travel to Louisville this week to see Davidson and Krueger return will get their chance next Saturday when Chicago returns to SeatGeek Stadium. The Red Stars host Kansas City for their Olympic Welcome Back game Saturday, August 28, at 7 p.m. CT. The first 5,000 fans get a limited edition clap banner, and all attending fans can participate in family friendly pregame activities. Tickets can be purchased here.
