Storylines
Pride at the Pitch: When the Red Stars return home this Saturday afternoon to take on Racing Louisville, they’ll be hosting their annual PRIDE Match. A portion of proceeds received from PRIDE ticket packages will be donated to Howard Brown Health. In addition, the CRS Cares Foundation is holding an auction benefiting Howard Brown that includes autographed game worn Pride warm-up tops and autographed Pride corner flags. There will also be a pregame tailgate starting at 11 a.m in the West Lot for fans to attend featuring Budweiser lawn games, giveaways, and more!
Taking Off to Tokyo: Saturday afternoon’s game will also double as a send-off for four members of the Red Stars. Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, defender Tierna Davidson, and midfielder Julie Ertz were all named as part of Vlatko Andonovski’s U.S. Women’s National Team roster for the games. Defender Casey Krueger will also travel as an alternate for the Summer Games.
Welcome back, Savannah and Yuki: The Red Stars not only will be welcoming Racing Louisville into SeatGeek Stadium for the first time in franchise history, but Chicago will also be welcoming back two former members of their squad. Savannah McCaskill and Yuki Nagasato, who were both traded to Louisville prior to the 2021 Expansion Draft in exchange for roster immunity, were intricate parts of the team’s back-to-back appearances in league title games. McCaskill was acquired in a 2019 trade with Sky Blue FC, and would register two Player of the Match awards during last year’s inaugural Challenge Cup. Nagasato was a member of the Red Stars from 2017-2020, playing in the assist to Sam Kerr for the lone goal in the 2019 NWSL semifinal game against Portland Thorns to send Chicago to their first-ever league title game.
