Storylines

Welcome back, Casey and Tierna: After returning to the Red Stars lineup last Wednesday on the road against Louisville, Chicago fans will have the chance to officially welcome back Casey Krueger and Tierna Davidson to SeatGeek Stadium as part of the team’s Welcome Back Olympians game. Davidson and Krueger, both first-time Olympians, were part of the bronze medal-winning Team USA earlier this summer in Tokyo. Kansas City, and team Canada, players Desiree Scott and Katie Bowen will make their first appearance in Chicago since winning the gold medal this summer, as will Australian international Chloe Logarzo.

Squad Rotation: In their previous game against Paris Saint-Germain, the Red Stars deployed a midfield lineup featuring two members of the 2020 NWSL Draft class, and Red Stars and league veteran. The new-look midfield of Zoe Morse, Ella Stevens and Nikki Stanton would start and play the majority of the game after tallying a combined 199 total minutes in the NWSL regular season so far. For Morse and Stevens, it was their first professional game in the starting lineup this season after both appearing in last year’s NWSL Challenge Cup.

A Busy Month Wraps Up: Saturday night’s game against Kansas City will be the last game in a month that saw the Red Stars very active in both league and friendly play. Following the conclusion of the match Chicago will have played five games throughout the month of August, including last week’s stretch of games which saw the Red Stars play three games in seven days. The month of September will see Chicago only play three times, with games on the 4th, 10th and 25th.
