Storylines
Previously vs Washington: The Chicago Red Stars and Washington Spirit will be facing off against each other for the second time in just under two weeks, with Chicago hosting Washington on Saturday, June 19th as part of their Juneteenth game. Washington’s Trinity Rodman put the Spirit up late, scoring in the 85th minute. However, the Red Stars would equalize in stoppage time after being awarded a penalty kick from a Washington handball, with Morgan Gautrat stepping up and scoring from the spot to see Chicago earn a hard-fought point in a 1-1 draw.
Taking Off to Tokyo, pt. 2: Earlier this week, it was announced that Chicago Red Stars Head Athletic Trainer and Illinois Bone and Joint Institute member Emily Fortunato was named to the medical staff for the U.S. Women’s National Team during the 2020 Tokyo Games this summer. Fortunato is now the fifth member from the Red Stars tapped to travel to Tokyo this summer, joining Julie Ertz, Tierna Davidson, Alyssa Naeher, and Casey Krueger as Chicago representatives for the U.S. Women’s National Team.

Defensively, Gautrat has a season tackle success rate of 61.5% while also totaling 10 interceptions and 9 clearances. Offensively, she has a passing success rate of 73.6%, 67.1% in the opposition’s half, and has a goal on the season after scoring in Chicago’s last faceoff with Washington.
