Storylines
2021 Finale: The Chicago Red Stars and the Orlando Pride face off on Friday evening for the third time this season and the second time in as many weeks. Push to the Playoffs: Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the Red Stars are right in the thick of the playoff push. After securing a total of six points out of a possible nine during the week of October 10, Chicago is now in full control of their playoff destiny as they take on an Orlando team who is mathematically eliminated from postseason contention. Pending the result Friday night, the Red Stars are also in contention to potentially host a quarterfinal round game Sunday, November 7.
League Leaders: The Red Stars, both as a team and with individual players, enter the final four days of the regular season among the league leaders in numerous categories. Mal Pugh and Kealia Watt are both among the league leaders in shots (both tied in fourth with 49), Watt is second in the league with shots on goal (29) and the entire team rounds out the top five in team shots on goal (108). Sarah Gorden is tied for most minutes played this season, joining Houston’s Katie Naughton as the only two players in the NWSL who have played every minute so far.
