Storylines

Pizza Derby, pt. 3: The Red Stars and Gotham FC will be playing their third and final match of the 2021 regular season this Saturday evening, with this being the second straight game in the series where Chicago travels to the east coast. In their previous matchup July 25, Gotham defeated the Red Stars 2-1 at home. Chicago drew level with Gotham at SeatGeek Stadium 1-1 during their first meeting May 22.

Woldmoe Stays Winning: This week has gotten better and better for Sarah Woldmoe. After her two-goal performance last Saturday, the NWSL officially named Woldmoe the league’s Budweiser Player of the Week this past Wednesday. So far on the year, Woldmoe started 13 of the 15 games she’s played in and has totaled 1,138 minutes during the season.

From Chicago to Gotham: Earlier this week, Gotham FC named, now-former Chicago Red Stars assistant coach, Scott Parkinson as their new head coach. The move comes after former Gotham coach Freya Coombe was hired as Angel City’s first-ever head coach. Due to a prior engagement, Parkinson will not be in attendance for this Saturday’s matchup between the two teams.
