Previous Result:

KCC: The Current broke a tied score late in their match against NJ/NY Gotham FC to take home three points with a 1-0 score.

Storylines:

Called Up: Four Chicago Red Stars will be joining their national teams during the June international break: Ava Cook will join the United States Under-23 Women’s Youth National Team; Alyssa Naeher and Mallory Pugh will join the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT); and Bianca St. Georges will join Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team. Naeher and Pugh will be a part of the USWNT that takes on Colombia in two friendly matches before heading to Mexico for the Concacaf W Championship. St-Georges joins Canada’s national team for camp with the hopes of joining the team for the tournament in Mexico.

Next Player Up: With season-ending injuries to two center backs, the Red Stars look to Tatumn Milazzo and Zoe Morse to lead the backline. While young, the two have shown strong form this season, being two of the three Red Stars to play in every match this season. Morse has a tackle success rate of 93.3 percent with 32 clearances while Milazzo has a 77.8 percent tackle success rate with 38 clearances.

Get one Back: Saturday night’s match against Kansas City will be the first time the Red Stars take on the Current during the regular season. During the Challenge Cup the two teams met twice, with Kansas City winning both matches by a score of 2-1. Before this year’s Challenge Cup, the Red Stars were unbeaten against the Current. Heading into Saturday’s match, the team will be looking to get back in the win column against the Current and stay atop the NWSL Standings. The team is currently tied for first in the standings with San Diego.
