Where to Watch

Stream: Paramount+ Twitch (International)

Previous Result:

CHI: A hard-fought match from the Red Stars earned them one point as they drew even with the Spirit 0-0

ORL: The Pride dropped a road game 0-5 to the Houston Dash June 3 in their first of three away games in June.

Storylines:

Ending the Homestand: This match against the Pride is the third home match in a row for the Red Stars. The team kicked off the homestand with a win, thanks to a goal from Mallory Pugh, against the OL Reign. In the second match, the Red Stars played a hard-fought match against the Washington Spirit, but ended with a 0-0 draw. Sunday’s match will be Chicago’s last home match for almost a month as they are scheduled to play games in Kansas City and New Jersey before returning to SeatGeek Stadium July 10.

Rising Stars: After impressive performances in May versus the Orlando Pride and Portland Thorns, as well as a win over the OL Reign, the Red Stars have shot up in the NWSL standings into third place. They were ranked 8th during the week of May 25. While still early in the season, the club is playing like a team hungry to make it back to the NWSL playoffs.

Hello, Again: The Red Stars and the Pride are no strangers, having played several games against each other in NWSL play. The May 22 showdown ended in a 4-2 Red Stars win, as did the two matches before in October 2021. The last time that the Pride beat the Red Stars was August 8, 2021. But coming off of a gauntlet of matches these last two weeks, the Red Stars will enter Sunday’s match on little rest. If their last matchup was any indication, the two teams are poised for an entertaining match.

Keep it Clean: Chicago has kept seven clean sheets in its last 12 home matches in all NWSL competitions, allowing just seven total goals in those games. The Red Stars have kept clean sheets in each of their last two home matches, last keeping three straight home clean sheets in June-July 2018.
