Storylines
Homecoming: Sunday afternoon’s game marks the first Chicago Red Stars game back at SeatGeek Stadium since the 2019 season, a year which saw the Red Stars advance to the team’s first-ever NWSL Championship game. The Red Stars’ final game at SeatGeek Stadium last season was an NWSL semifinal against the Portland Thorns on October 20th, which saw Chicago defeat Portland 1-0.
Path to the Pros: During their Fall Series opener last Saturday against the Washington Spirit, the Red Stars saw three alumni from the Red Stars Reserves team make significant contributions. Zoey Goralski and Hannah Davison, both of whom were on the Reserves roster in 2018, started and played all 90 minutes of the late morning contest. Camryn Biegalski, who would enter the game as a substitute at the 95’ minute, was a part of the 2019 Red Stars Reserve team.
Wall to Wall: The Red Stars and Sky Blue FC come into both their respective second games of the Fall Series with statistically two of the best keepers from this summer’s Challenge Cup. Sky Blue FC’s Kailen Sheridan finished the tournament with 21 saves and three clean sheets, winning the league’s Golden Gloves Award for best goalkeeper. Chicago’s Alyssa Naeher finished her Challenge Cup campaign with 20 saves and two clean sheets as both keepers played a total of 540 minutes.
