CHICAGO, Ill. (September 10, 2021) - Casey Krueger’s late-game header in the 77th minute helped the Red Stars level the game after a Rachel Daly goal in the first half, in a game that would finish 1-1 Friday, September 10.
KEY MOMENTS
22’ - Houston’s Rachel Daly breaks free in transition and scores past Cassie Miller to put the Dash up by one. 46’ - Mallory Pugh almost opens the second half with an equalizer, but Houston’s Jane Campbell just gets an arm up for the save.
57’ - Cassie Miller smothers a loose ball after a Houston Dash corner was almost converted by Daly in the box.
77’ - Casey Krueger heads in the deflection of a short-range free kick from Danny Colaprico that bounced off the crossbar to even the game at one.
GAME NOTES
The Red Stars, as a team, would put significant pressure on Houston’s backline throughout most of the contest Friday night and kept Houston’s Jane Campbell busy. As a whole, the Red Stars finished with 11 total shots with eight of them coming from inside the box. The team also finished with 11 corner kicks on the night, with Houston only taking two corners the entire game.
Morgan Gautrat once again dictated the pace of play in Chicago’s midfield and would be the architect of any run of play that would occur in the center of the pitch for the Red Stars. Gautrat finished the game with the team lead in tackles (4), touches (74), total passes (50), successful passes (43) and total passes in the opposition's half (23).
A trademark Casey Krueger goal helped the Red Stars draw level in Friday’s match, but Krueger also had an impact in almost every aspect of the game. She played the entire game and registered 22 passes with two open play crosses, two clearances, an interception and 45 touches.
Next Game
The Red Stars have a week off due to the FIFA international break, but then return to play at home against the Portland Thorns September 25 at 7 p.m. CT.
