CHICAGO — The Chicago Red Stars announced today that Rachel Hill, Cassie Miller, Makenzy Doniak, Emily Boyd and Kayla Sharples will be heading overseas during the NWSL offseason.
Forward Rachel Hill is playing in Sweden for the Damallsvenskan league’s Linköpings FC. Previously, Hill’s overseas experience included joining Australian club Perth Glory on loan for the 2017-18 W-League season. During her first season at Perth she finished with six assists, the most in the league, and nine goals, the third-most in the league. She re-signed a loan agreement for the 2018-19 season finishing with six additional goals as the team walked away runners up in the Grand Final.
Goalkeeper Cassie Miller, who made her NWSL debut as a part of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, is returning to Cyprus on loan to Apollon Ladies FC of the Cypriot First Division. She previously played for the team as part of their 2019-20 season. Prior to that, Miller competed with Netherland’s PSV Vrouwen for their 2018-19 season.
In their first overseas stints, goalkeeper Emily Boyd and forward Makenzy Doniak are reuniting in Denmark as they team up for the Elitedivisionen’s HB Køge, while defender Kayla Sharples heads to Finland to join the Kuopion Palloseura of Kansallinen Liiga.
All loans end prior to the 2021 NWSL preseason.
