GAME NOTES
Arin Wright’s 90 minute performance tonight (74 touches, 43 passes, three interceptions) will go down as one of her more memorable ones, as in the 49th minute of play Wright eclipsed the 10,000 minute mark in her NWSL career. This is just another accomplishment of several this season for Wright who is playing in her first full season since the birth of her son, was inducted into the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame earlier this year and played her first games as a professional in her home state of Kentucky during the inaugural Women’s Cup.
Makenzy Doniak returned to the Red Stars’ starting lineup and instantly contributed. Doniak scored what would be the go-ahead and game-winning goal in the 50th minute while also adding 37 touches, 24 passes and added two tackles defensively.
Morgan Gautrat’s effort in the midfield kept the Red Stars’ tempo intact throughout the game which would help Chicago earn three points. Gautrat led the team with 50 passes and 35 passes in the opposition half, and also led the team with five interceptions defensively.
Next Game
The Red Stars play their final regular season game of the season Friday, October 29 as they travel to take on the Orlando Pride.
