Chicago Red Stars Team Up with Univision Chicago for Exclusive Spanish-Language Broadcast

Partnership to Bring Fans Spanish-Language Coverage of the Red Stars’ Saturday, September 25th Match Versus Portland Thorns Simulcast on UniMás and WRTO 1200 AM Radio


CHICAGO – AUGUST 23, 2021 – The Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and Univision Chicago, part of Univision Communications Inc., the leading Spanish-language media and content company in the U.S., today announced a first-time partnership that will deliver special Spanish-language coverage of the club’s Saturday, September 25 (7 p.m. CDT) match versus the Portland Thorns to fans in the Chicago-land area on UniMás TV and TUDN, Univision Sports Radio WRTO 1200 AM.

In addition to offering fans at home a Spanish-language broadcast experience, the Red Stars will celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month at SeatGeek Stadium with activations for fans attending the September 25th game. In the weeks preceding the game, Red Stars players will appear across Univision Chicago television and radio programming to promote the upcoming game and educate fans on the league and the Red Stars franchise.


The Chicago Red stars are the country’s oldest professional women’s soccer team. Established in 2007, the Red Stars are one of the original eight founding members of the NWSL and have made the playoffs in six consecutive years from 2015-2020, including an appearance in the 2020 Challenge Cup Finals. The Red Stars are the club team for U.S. Women’s National Team players Alyssa Naeher, Casey Krueger, Julie Ertz and Tierna Davidson.
