CHICAGO, Ill. (July 2, 2022) - The Chicago Red Stars take down New Jersey/New York Gotham FC by a score of 3-0. Goals from Vanessa DiBernardo, Sarah Luebbert and Ella Stevens secured three points for Chicago and sent them to the top of National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) standings.

GAME NOTES:
It was another night of firsts for the Chicago Red Stars: Milazzo and Stevens secured their first regular-season assists; Luebbert scored her first regular-season goal; and Channing Foster and Mikenna McManus secured their first regular-season appearances tonight.
The Red Stars’ backline, along with goalkeeper Emily Boyd, put up another good defensive performance. Despite being outshot (14 to 10) Chicago’s backline kept Gotham off the score sheet, winning possession 37 times between Boyd, Kowalski, Milazzo and Morse. For Boyd, this is the 5th shutout of her career.
Milazzo, who was named to the NWSL’s Best XI in June, put in another impressive performance on both ends of the pitch. She ranked in the top five in recoveries (10), completed passes in the final third (4) and shots (1) and chances created (1)
