The Chicago Red Stars today announced the signing of forward Jenna Bike to a two-year contract with a one-year option. The Red Stars acquired Bike through the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) waiver wire.
“Jenna is a player who brings a strong work ethic to go with her outstanding athletic ability. She can be effective at multiple spots on the field. We look forward to watching her develop,” said Red Stars Head Coach, Chris Petrucelli.
Bike joined New Jersey/New York Gotham FC last season as a national team replacement player. Following the return of their national team players, Bike was released and re-signed to a contract through the end of the 2022 season. As a member of Gotham FC, Bike played in nine matches. Bike made her NWSL debut July 2, at Red Bull Arena when Gotham took on the Red Stars.
“I'm thrilled to be joining the Red Stars! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to play for this amazing city and fan base,” said Bike. “Chris and the entire staff have been so welcoming toward me and I'm confident that this is where I belong. I'm looking forward to meeting the team and getting to work this preseason!”
Originally from Connecticut, Bike attended Boston College where she registered 18 goals and 15 assists in 89 matches from 2016-21 and served as team captain for two years. Bike told Jenna Tonelli of Nets Republic that she was a nurse working on a Doctorate of Nursing Practice prior to joining Gotham last season.
