CHICAGO, IL. (Jan. 26, 2022) – Michelle Lomnicki, former player for the Chicago Red Stars, has been named the club’s Associate General Manager.
“We’re thrilled to have Michelle expand her role with the Red Stars,” said Vicky Lynch, the club’s Chief Business Officer. “Her experience with the club as a player, combined with her business acumen, makes her an outstanding fit for this key role with the club. We know she will bring the same work ethic and high standards she had as a player to this position.”
Lomnicki started her career with the Red Stars in 2009 when the club was part of the Women’s Professional Soccer League. After stints with SC Freiburg and Sky Blue FC, Lomnicki returned to the Red Stars in 2012. From 2012-2015 Lomnicki played in 48 games, started in 39, totaled 3,462 minutes and scored 3 goals with 4 assists.
“I’m excited to take on this role and look forward to playing my part to usher the Chicago Red Stars toward an even brighter future,” said Lomnicki. “With my experience as a former player coupled with my knowledge of the club internally, I look forward to building and maintaining a bridge between front office and our players on the pitch.”
Following her playing career the Colorado native became involved with youth soccer programs, and rejoined the Red Stars in 2020 as the Director of Camps and Clinics. Over her year with the club’s youth offerings, Lomnicki revamped the club’s youth programming to better serve hundreds of aspiring soccer players across the Chicagoland area.
Lomnicki began transitioning into the Associate General Manager role during the National Women’s Soccer League Draft and has since participated in player contract discussions and was a key part of negotiating the return of fan-favorite player, Yuki Nagasato.
