Storylines

Hello Again: The upcoming matchup with OL Reign will be the first time these two teams have shared the field since last year’s quarterfinal round of the 2020 Challenge Cup. After finishing regulation and extra time scoreless, the game would go to a penalty shootout. Goals from Julie Ertz, Vanessa DiBernardo, Kealia Watt, and Rachel Hill and a clutch save from Alyssa Naeher would see Chicago into the semifinal round by winning the shootout, 4-3.

Rising Rookie: In a year already full of firsts for Illinois-native Tatumn Milazzo, sponsorship opportunities can now be added to the list thanks to a new league initiative. Milazzo is one of 11 first-year NWSL players who are a part of the Secret Deodorant's 2021 NWSL Rookie Class Program, which seeks to align sponsorship opportunities to those selected who are participating in this year’s Challenge Cup.
